The VERDI Mochila

The VERDI Mochila, a reinterpretation of one of Colombia’s most iconic crafts, was born in 2015 when Tomás Vera, founder of VERDI, sought to showcase the artistry behind the studio’s emblematic interior design pieces through a creative gesture. With this piece, VERDI set out to elevate the traditional ethnic bag through innovative design and its signature metal threads. The mochila has since become the beating heart of VERDI’s fashion pillar, embodying the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

VERDI’s fashion approach to artisanal techniques is both modern and deeply rooted in tradition, celebrating the essence of Colombia while serving as a testament to its natural beauty and cultural diversity. By transforming an emblematic craft into a statement of contemporary luxury, VERDI continues to honor and redefine Colombian artistry on a global scale.

LA MOCHILA

moh-chee-lah

The Colombian mochila is a traditional handwoven bag with deep cultural roots, crafted by indigenous communities such as the Wayúu, Arhuaco, Kankuamo, and Kogui. Each mochila carries symbolic patterns reflecting ancestral stories, nature, and spirituality. At VERDI, we honor this legacy by blending traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design, intertwining natural fibers with fine metal threads like copper, silver, and gold. Handwoven in our Bogotá atelier, the VERDI mochila reinterprets this iconic craft, elevating it into a modern expression of luxury and artistry.

This Copper Pineapple Mochila is the first ever fashion piece created at VERDI — a piece that marked the beginning of our journey in fashion.
