The Gerrit Bed: A Collaboration Between Simón Hamui and VERDI

In a quiet dialogue between geometry and gesture, Simón Hamui Studio and VERDI come together to reimagine an icon: the Gerrit Bed, a signature piece from Hamui’s SH Collection. This collaboration marks a first for the two studios—an encounter born from a shared reverence for materiality, craftsmanship, and timeless design.

A reinterpretation of the classic four-poster bed, the new Gerrit becomes a canvas where VERDI’s textile language softens and enriches Hamui’s architectural silhouette. The intervention, handwoven in Bogotá, features plantain fiber and baby alpaca—natural materials that carry with them the warmth of the Andes and the rhythm of the tropics. These fibers wrap the headboard and gently ripple through surrounding linen curtains, offering a sensory balance between texture and lightness.

Rooted in Colombian textile tradition, this bespoke piece is a celebration of sustainable design, where every thread tells a story of hands, heritage, and home. It invites rest not just of the body, but of the spirit.

The Gerrit Bed will be on view at the VERDI Mexico showroom from May 14 to June 13. We welcome you to discover this limited exhibition—a testament to what happens when Latin American design traditions meet in harmony.
