Beyond the Floor: Rugs as Headboard Textiles

At VERDI, we believe textiles can define a space in many ways — not only underfoot, but as part of the architecture itself.
In a recent project at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, our team explored a new application of our rug weaves, using them as custom headboard textiles. The result showed how handwoven materials can bring texture, depth, and warmth to vertical surfaces, creating a sense of continuity between flooring and wall elements.

Each VERDI rug is crafted from a blend of fique, wool, silk, and metal threads, making it strong, tactile, and visually dynamic. When installed as a headboard covering, these qualities transform into dimensional wall finishes that interact beautifully with light and shadow.
This approach allows designers to integrate craftsmanship into architecture, using the same durable weaves found in our rugs to create focal points in bedrooms or hospitality settings. The material’s density and natural variations make each piece unique, while its handmade origin adds authenticity and permanence to the space.

Exploring rugs as headboard textiles expands how we think about woven materials — from functional floor coverings to architectural surfaces that bring warmth, character, and a human touch to contemporary interiors.
